Who We Support

United Way of Scott County focuses on three Vision Areas: Investing in Children and Youth, Promoting Health and Independence, and Helping Families in Crisis. There is also a Community Care Fund. You may designate your donation to go to a specific agency, a Vision Area, or in the General Fund.

Investing in Children and Youth
These programs focus on building self-confidence, leadership skills and instilling values; provide specialized therapeutic and academic services for children with special needs; promote child abuse prevention awareness; enhance reading skills; and promote abstinence.

Promoting Health and Independence
These programs support volunteer projects; the independence of older adults and people with disabilities; prevention programs which build character assets in youth and adults; and coordinate volunteer efforts for area seniors.

Helping Families in Crisis
These services provide disaster relief, health and safety programs, emergency communications for military personnel and families; counseling and safe shelter to individuals and families affected by domestic violence, rape, sexual assault and economic hardship; and emergency assistance such as food, clothing and utility assistance to families and individuals in need.
