If your employer doesn't participate in a campaign, you may fill out this pledge card and send it to United Way of Scott County. Scott County State Bank holds their employee campaign. At left, the group is asked to sit down after answering a question as to whether they or someone they know has used a service in Scott County (it was then revealed that the service was provided through a United Way agency). The first question was if they had a child who attended middle school in Scott County in the last nine years...that child viewed the Worth the Wait curriculum, which teaches sexual abstinence. The entire group was seated after five of the seven questions were asked.At right, Scott County State Bank President Syd Whitlock tells how United Way personally affected his family. The bank is gearing up for an exciting campaign this year. Scott Memorial Hospital Human Resources Manager Katy Hutchinson signs a check to United Way of Scott County Executive Director Barbara Timberlake and Board Member Kyle Akers. Other hospital committee members shown are Charlene Coomer, Michelle Shepherd, Sara Lewis, James Vaughn, Bill Greene, John Sheckler, Rebecca Roth and Debbie Leach. Hospital employees raised $21,762.43 toward United Way's 2007/08 campaign. This is an increase of almost 24 percent over last year's campaign. In addition to employee pledges, the hospital held a silent auction, which raised $986, a live auction, which brought in $1,728.50, and a lunch, which resulted with $234.65. Planned GivingA new fund has been established at the Scott County Community Foundation -United Way Touch Tomorrow Fund. This endowment fund is perfect for those who are retiring but would still like to continue giving money to United Way. Donors who are also currently giving to United Way through payroll deduction may choose to designate their pledge to the Touch Tomorrow Fund. The fund will be used as an added resource in the allocations process for United Way.
