The Scott County State Bank was
named “Company of the Year” by United
Way of Scott
County at the 2008 United Way and Funds State Leaders
Conference held April 3 at the Hilton Indianapolis North in Indianapolis. Attending as representatives of
the bank were President and CEO Syd Whitlock, Executive Vice President Kathleen
Julian, Senior Vice President/Senior Lender Russ Comer and Assistant Vice
President Shelley Lakins.
The enthusiasm of the employees at
the Scott County State Bank has set the tone for United Way of Scott County
this year – and not just during campaign season. Employees volunteer throughout
the year, serving on committees and the Board of Trustees, participating in Day
of Caring, helping with special events and more.
What stands out the most about the
employees are their creative fundraising efforts. The president of the bank
kicked off their campaign with a personal story on how his family has been
affected by United Way.
They offered incentives such as free vacation days and gift card drawings, and
held fun events such as Denim Days and a Penny War fundraiser. All this contributed
to a 296% increase in their campaign from last year! To top off the year, the
president dressed up as Donald Trump to serve at United Way’s Celebrity Dinner fundraiser.
It’s the actions of companies like
the Scott County State Bank that make giving fun and define the true spirit of
community.
Also attending the annual state association conference
from United Way
of Scott County were Executive Director Barbara
Timberlake, Financial Administrator Charlotte Boswell and
Programs/Communications Coordinator Jaime Toppe.
